                Hastings was sure that his strategy and planning for war are sufficient for winning. He was of opinion that Gurkha would not battle for long. He was confident that Nepal would bent for treaty after war.  He put a few tolerable conditions for Nepal that Nepal would accept those conditions as the Company did not want to topple Nepal Government. Hastings was interested Nepal as the buffer state for Company’s trade with China and Tibet. East India Company appointed Major Bradshaw as Company’s Political representative for Nepal.

 Head quarter informed about conditions for Nepal.

   The conditions from the Company side were that Nepal would agree for defeat (without war). Nepal would agree to compensate the expenses of Butbal battle. Nepal had to hand over the culprit officers to the company.  Nepal would accept the treaties of Company with other hill states of Nepal and would follow the terms of Treaties.

 Hastings was sure that Nepal would agree its conditions. However, Ambar Singh Thapa and many more were of opinion that Nepal would not bent before fight or war.
