‘Dadi ar Lalten’: One of the remarkable Garhwali Poems illustrating Paradox

    Frequently, the using paradox started from Kanhaiya Lal Dandriyal period (1958-onwards) in Garhwali poetry.

            The following poem ‘Dadi ar Lalten’ by Dinesh Bijlwan (Baman Ganv, Kweela, Tehri Garhwal, born 1961)is one of the best paradox genre modern poems of Garhwali language.

           The poem ‘Dadi ar Lalten’ has common phrases and the words create certain kind of tension in the mind of tension that why the character is behaving in such absurd manner.

दादी अर लालटेन

कवि :दिनेश बिजल्वाण (बामण गाँव , क्वीली , टिहरी गढ़वाल , 1961 )

आज फेर चलिगे बिजुलि /आज फेर भैर ऐगे लालटेन

अंध्यारा से भैर /अंध्यारा भजौण तैं।

अब सबि बच्योणा छन , क्वी गूंगो नी /समणि टीबी नी।

दादी सुणाणी छ अपण जमाना कि छ्वीं

सब्बि सुणणा छन /जन द्यखदन अपणो प्रिय धारावाहिक

सब्यों मा टैम चा /कैबि जल्दी नी।

दादी सुणाणी च

कनु गुठ्यार मा कट्ठु ह्वे जान्दो छौ गौं /खेल -खेल मा

थड्या -चौंफळा  मा थिरकदो छौ पहाड़

राति को मुक उज्यळो ह्वे जांद छौ /गीतुं का छ्वायोंन।

ल्या  बिजुलि बि ऐगे /यो क्या छ हूणों ?

वैको भोळ इमत्यान छ

वूंन दफ्तर जाण सुबेर /नौनि को कॉलेज

रैगे बस दादी अर लालटेन /दादी अपणो को जाण से बेचैन

लालटेन बिजुलि का औण से /भलु छ कबि कबि चलि जा बिजुलि

स्वचदी दादी /अर कौम्पदा हाथुन मुझोंद लालटेन।

 The said poem suggest that the place of Dinesh Bijlwanin Garhwali, Himalyan (Indian) poetry is important  as poets Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906), Johan Asbery (1926), Marina Tsvetaeva (1892-1941); Hassan El Quazzani; Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) in their respective language poetic world.
