  Chhorichhapar is a specific word in Garhwali language. ‘Chhora’ or ‘Chhori’ means the child without parents or without father.  ‘Chhorichhapar’ is the story of a mother of three daughters and eldest daughter. Her father left them for another woman. The eldest daughter and her mother struggle for the survival of family. After the death of mother, the eldest daughter takes all responsibilities for upbringing her two younger sisters.  At the end a moment comes in the life of eldest sister to choose between her responsibility and for her own life. The story has tragic emotion throughout. However, this continuous tragic emotion does not break the intensity of the story, and does not become hurdle for compelling situation for the readers. Durga Prasad Ghildiyal has the capacity for compelling the readers reading the story till end.
