    Gari’ is first Garhwali story collection by prominent Garhwali fiction writer Durga Prasad Ghildiyal (Padalyun, P.G.1923-2002) who published three Garhwali story collections. Ghildiyal published forty Garhwali stories.
                Sab’ is one of the most discusses stories of ‘Gari’. The daughter of a school inspector  was ignored by her parents. In retaliation, she aspired for her son becoming ‘Sab’ or big man. Her son becomes an officer (Sab). However, the son does not care about her mother and his native place.
 The central theme of ‘Sab’ is pride by a daughter ignored by parents, love for own mother land and progeny. The story blends philosophy, spirituality and materialism together with outstanding class for which Ghildiyal is famous.
