             It is universal truth that the folk songs provide sense of place.

 There many places in most of the community those are mentioned   in various folk songs. For example, there are Garhwali folk songs those mentions names of places such as Binsar or Satpuli. There are Kumauni folk songs wherein Nainital or Haldwaani places are mentioned.

Tota Ram Dhoundiyal offers a couple of Folk songs where Satpuli name is mentioned.

  Satpuli is at the bank of Nayar river and on the Pauri-Gumkhal road.

  The following Garhwali folk song provides sense of place and importance of place in folk song.
