Garhwali
fiction writer, poet Om Prakash Semwal
wrote and staged more than eleven Garhwali dramas. All his dramas are staged at
Government Inter College Choptu, - (Old) Chamoli Garhwal from 1995- 2002. Om
Prakash aimed all his dramas to teen aged students. His aim of drama writing is
very clear to awaken the teen agers about wrong happenings or the disappointing
customs in the society.
All dramas by Om
Prakash Semwal are one act play and short form of dramas.
The themes of all the Garhwali dramas by Om
Prakash Semwal are social based dramas. The dramas deal with social concerns.
The characterization
of characters is simple and instance. Om Prakash uses characterization by the
activities of the character and takes no time in characterization.
The dialogues are
simple and easily understandable to the teen agers. Playwright has been
successful showing contemporary life of Garhwal and Kumaun and migrated people
of these regions.
Om Prakash ends
his dramas on the theme of punishing the culprit or coming on disciplined line
by culprits.
The language is
having dialects of Rudra Prayag area.
Om
Prakash has been successful in writing social awakening dramas.
