Om Prakash
Semwal wrote and staged a Garhwali drama ‘Chunav’ in G.I. College Chopta, Garhwal
in 2001. The story deals with the theory of problem of ‘power corrupts’. Gram Pradhan take developmental works and
enjoys the benefits of village developmental works along with his family
members and his supporters. A couple of
aware people want to oust present Gram Pradhan and elect a honest person. However,
the corrupt Pradhan and his supporters don’t like the idea of some body is opposing
them. There are scenes of social conflicts in the drama. At the time of
election, present Gram Pradhan uses all sorts of malpractices. Now, the
election machinery comes into action.
The dram portrays
the present crumbling situation of country and the selfish interest and
malpractices by leaders in power.
