  Before, British rule, the forests were the properly of villages in Garhwal. British changed the forest regulation and from the day one the corruption in forest department started. As soon as corruption in forest department started the forest mafia came in existence.

  In the present satirical article Guldar Pakde Ge bal (Rant Raibar, 5/3/2012), the satirical columnist Prakash Mani Dhashmana illustrates the various corrupt methodologies by forest department employees with the help of forest mafia as cutting trees, pouching tigers and other rare faunas and exploiting taking medicinal plants.  The satire criticizes  humorously the corrupt forest department and forest mafia.
