Arjun Singh Gusain had eyes in rural Uttarakhand through his regular visit to rural Uttarakhand, continuous contacts with conscious intellectuals and articles received for Hilans. His editorial ‘Uttarakhand me Badlata jeewan drashan”: Ek Avlokan’ (Hilans, September, 1985) is proof that Gusain was aware about the bad results of immoral cultural changes in Uttarakhand. The editorial is still relevant. Gusain discussed about liquor consumption and gambling practices among youth and utter frustration due to no opportunities for youth in rural Uttarakhand.
