Ownership of Chandi Pargana with Hearsay

          Initially, from past, Garhwal kings were having rule over Chandi Pargana region. When in 1958, Garhwal King Prithwipati Shah refused for handing over Suleman Shikoh to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Aurangzeb Army captured Chandi Region. On 22nd December 1660, Garhwal  Prince Medani Shah handed over Suleman Shikoh to Aurangzeb Army. However, Mughal had right on Chandi Region till 1664. In 1664, Aurangzeb ordered for handing over Chandi Region to Garhwal King Prithwipati Shah.
         Later on Nazibbudaula captured Chandi Region and Doon. Pradip Shha captured Doon but could not capture Chandi region. Chandi was near the Rohila capital Nazibabad. Therefore, Rohila captured Chandi region. Awadh Nabab captured Chandi Region from Rohila. Later on the right of Chandi region was transferred to east India Company.
  On those days, Kangdi, Shyampur, villages near Laldhang were under Chandi Pargana which was east of Ganga River.
   Apart from Land tax there was other income from dense forest region of Chandi Pargana-

Water tax- for fishing and edible water born plants
Grazing Tax- The nearby famers used to bring their domestic animals for grazing and used to pay tax.
Forest produces –catechu, Sal,  woods, bamboo, lime, resin, honey, medicinal plants etc
In 1803, after Company getting right on Chandi region, Lieutenant Governor General Henry Welsali ordered to make the land for agriculture.
 Since, Company had already handed over ownership of Chandi region to Hearsay, Chandi region was ignored by the Company officials in changing the land for fertile agro land.

 On 11 January, Hearsay sold the right of Chandi Pargana to the Company that the company would pay annually Rs 1200 to his next generations.

 From 1812 till 1814, Sudarshan Shah could solve the problems of food for his family from the agriculture from Khara region.
In that time Sudarshan Shah met many British officials.
