Achary Shrikant Kukreti A Great Sanskrit Poet
Bhishm Kukreti
Garhwalis contributed sizably for Sanskrit literature from past till date. Shrikant Kukreti ‘Acharya’ was one of the great Sanskrit creative for contributing development of Sanskrit literature of Modern time.
Shrikant Kukreti Acharya was born in Naugaon, Patti- Malla Udaypur, Pauri Garhwal (now Kotdwara District) of Uttarakhand, Himalayas on 21st1911 and he left this world in 1989
Shrikant left his village at the age of eighth after Chudakarm Sanskar and joined Shri Darshan Sanskrit Maha Vidyalay, Muni Ki Rtit, Rishikesh. He passed Prathama and Madhyama from here. Shrikant got mastery over amar kosh, Ashtadhyaayi, Geeta, Upnishdas, and many Strotras (formulas) .
Shrikant Kukreti, Acharya left Rishikesh for Raghunath Sanskrit Vidyalaya, jammu from where he passed Visharad in 1933 and completed Shastri degree from Panjab Vishv Vidyalay, Lahour, in 1935. He taught Sanskrit in many places. He joined Sanskrit Vidyalay Solan, himachal Pradesh as principal in 1951 and there on retired from there in 1974.
Contribution of Shrikant Kukreti Acharya in Sanskrit literature
Achary Shrikant Kukreti published following books in Sanskrit –
1-Simatikraman (an epic based on Chinese invasion of 1962 with Hindi translation)- The Sanskrit epic deals with the invasion, deceptive-monopolistic nature of China and invasion of china into Tibet and Indian territory. There are characters of tribal areas Nefa to fight the invasion from Nefa in the epic. There are all characters of an epic in Simatikraman. There are fifteen sarg (chapters0 in the epic and takes sacrifice of tribal people.
2-Yug Nirmata Daya Nand an epic (including Hindi translation)- The epic deals with the life of maharshi Dayanand Sarswati . There are 12 Sarg in the epic
3- Pratap Vijay a Prose-Poetry novel in Sanskrit based on life and bravery of Maha Rana Pratap .
4-Anand Charitam a long poetry based on the life of religious leader and political leader Satpal Maharaj .
5- Bhartiy Rajat jayanti a long poetry
6- Matri Vandana – a long poem
There are many unpublished works of Shrikant Kukreti Acharya
Dr Prem Datt a Sanskrit praised Acharya Kukreti Shrikant with depth.
