Sankalp: Appreciable Efforts for Raising Vital Issues of Survival of Indian Regional Languages

              Dr. Bihari Lal Jalandhari is a well know personality in keeping alive the Uttarakhandi journalism in Delhi besides his research on Garhwali-Kumauni languages. He has been publishing a fortnightly ‘Dev Bhumi ki Pukar for more than sixteen years.  
            ‘Sankalp’ is annual special issue of Dev Bhumi being published from 2011. This present issue of Sankalp’ is about raising vital issue of survival of Indian regional languages.  
              Bihari lal jalandhari opens various issues of conspiracy against the local and oldest living languages in Uttarakhand – Kumauni and Garhwali in his ‘Bhasha ke Mudde par Chuppi Kyon?
  Surendra Rawat tries to discover the reasons for worsening situation of local languages in ‘Uttarakhandi Bhasha ka Khisktaa Janadhar’.
  Tara Datt Tripathi offers a few important aspects of protection of Kumauni and Garhwali languagesby providing details of dieing languages or dead languages in ‘Himalayi Bhashaon ka Bhavishy’.
 Prem Lal Bhatt is senior Garhwali literature creative and unnecessary he tries to write brief history of Garhwali prose in  Gadhwali gady ku lekhan. This is one of the weakest articles of Sankalp’ as Bhatt does not have any knowledge or he never tried about the Garhwali prose from 1985. The editors should restrain from calling language historical articles from those who do not do labor in finding the exact data. Senior literature creative never means he/she knows history of literature.
  DProfesor Keshav datt rubali raised the issue of spelling of Kumaun, Kumau, Kumauni, Kumaunni in ‘Kumauni Bhasha: Adharbhoot Sandarbh’. Dr Rubali provides historical details of word Kumaun. It is surprising that learned scholar did not mention the name od Dr.Bhavani datt Upreti’s famous book.
   Bhishma Kukreti puts light on the critical history of Garhwali language Criticism in ‘Garhwali Sahity me Samalochna/Alochana/Sameeksha’.
  Dr Parma nand Chaube provides reasons for proving Garhwali, Kumauni and Jaunsari as perfect languages in ‘Uttarakhand ke Mool ko Abhivykt krne me Samarth..’
  Kamla Jalandhari speaks about the work of Dr B.L. Jalandhari forgetting recognition for regional languages of Uttarakhand in ‘Bhasha Rojgar ka Sadhan bane: Dr Jalandhari
  Famous Hindi and Kumauni poet Pooran Chand kandpal discusses about Garhwali and Kumauni ’
  By profession Dr Chandra Mohan is medical practitioner but he has strong affiliation towards regional languages of Uttarakhand. Dr Dhoundiyal shows the special characteristics of Garhwali language in Apni Matri Bhasha Garhwali-Kumauni’.
  Famous social worker Drashan Sing (Udaypur) narrates the appreciable works of migrated Uttarakhandis for developing and protecting their languages in ‘Pravasiyon Dwara Matribhasha ka Vikas’.
   Famous Garhwali poet discusses about the importance of making new language from the present Kumauni and Garhwali languages in the article- ‘Boli-Bhasha me Rachi Basi hai Mitti ki khushboo’.
  ‘Panch Bhai Kathait ki gatha ‘ is famous drama by Dr D.R. Purohit. Now the readers will love the script of the said drama.
   Damodar Joshi Devans argues the reasons for clean Ganges in ‘Ganga hun Main’.
  Suraj Singh Rawat discusses about lack of cooperation among Garhwali-Kumauni creative in ‘Hamare sahitykaro me Eka nahi’ . Without providing proofs by Rawat the subject loses its importance. In fact the title and the story inside do not have any relation too.
Nidhi Semwal’s article is just filler. It is surprising that editor kept the articles of Suraj Rawat and Semwal  in this serious volume.
  Dev Vrat Sharma provides history and characteristics of Asames language literature in ‘Matribhasha ki Bhasha hi Hamari Bhasha’.
   Honorable judges Pranjal Barua and Upen Basumtari provide critical aspects of Bodo language and its literature in ‘Ashmita ki Pahchan hai: Bodo’.
  V.m Meshnamba discusses about history and characteristics of Manipuri language in Mool Skript ko purarjeevit karne ki avshyakata’.
  T. Gangopadhyay specifies the critical characteristics of Bengali language in ‘ek Samridh Bhasha ke sabhi Gun’.
Vandana vete provides glimpses of Santhali language in ‘ Ary Bhashao se Adhik Purani hai Santhali Bhasha’.
Professor K.K.Jha discusses various aspects of Maithali language in ‘Mukut ki Tarah mana Jata hai Maithali sahity’.
  Ved kumara Ghai endows with rich history and characteristics of Dogari language in ‘Sanrakshit hai Dogari Bhasha ka Mool Roop’.
       Onkar N.kaul presents knowledge about Kashmiri Language in ‘Apni Dhwaniyon ko Samete Huye hain Sthaniy Bhasha’.
  B.k.Sharma details about the history strength of Gujarati language in ‘Rajgar ka sadhan hai Gujrati Bhasha’. 
Ashwani Kumar Pankaj cautions about endangering situation of local languages in India.
Eminent language expert Dr Karmchandra Aheer briefs about history and characteristics of Panchparganiya languge in “ Hamare log Sanskritik Shadyantra ke Shikar ho rahe hain’.
  Dr Roj Kerketta argues that the people should not pursue strictness of conventional wisdom in local language literature in ‘Shudhata ka Agrah Bhashai Vikas me Badhak hota hai’.
    Dr Girdhari Ram Gaunjhu pins point the features and different phases of Nagpuri language in ‘  Nagpuri Bhasha ka Udhbhav v Vikash’.
    Ashish Kumar Anshu converses the vital issues of protection of regional languages in ‘Bhashai vashudha: Boliyon ka Kumbh’.
  There are life sketches of Dr. Ghana nand jadli, Arun rawat, Sandip Sharma, Raghva Nand jadli, Kanti Ballabh Dhulakhandi, Kushla nand Bhatt, and poems in Garhwali and Kumauni languages by Ashok Pal Singh’Shikshak’, Shanti Prakash Jigyasu’, Shiv dayal Shailaj, Dr Asha rawat, Lalt Keshwan, Dinesh Dhyani, Om Prakash semwal, Jalandhari, Pooran kandpal, Radheshyam Semwal, Ramesh Hitaishi, Damodar Joshi, Jagdish Joshi, and hmeant Bisht.
  The issue of ‘sankalp(2012) is an important issue that discusses various aspects of language protection and development. The most appreciable aspect is including the historical aspect articles of other languages in this issue.  It is necessary that Garhwali and Kumauni literature also know development of other languages as Garhwali and Kumauni.
  Kudos to Dr. Bihari lal Jalandhari for making Himalayan efforts in publishing such collector magazine ‘Sankalp’ (2012)
