      All over India and in many communities all over the world,  people sacrifice animals in religious rituals. Mohan Lal Negi narrates the story of sacrifice of buffalo in ‘Naurtu’ rituals. The children were anxious to join dance and singing in Naurtu but they were disturbed by watching pundit and other villagers injuring sacrificing buffalo by axes , swords etc and then killing the innocent animal for human’s benefits from god.

  The story starts with enthusiasm for the Mandan among children but slowly -slowly takes a very sad scene of killing buffalo by cruel means.

  The story is best example of rapture of pathos in Garhwali fiction. The story is able to create awareness about our cruel methods to worship god who created both- human and animals.
