            ‘Burans Ki peed’ is one of the representative stories of story collection ‘Burans Ki peed’ of Mohan Lal Negi.  The story has two parts .The first part is daily life of a school teacher Dayalu. Second part is about a beautiful girl Roop Dei. Mohan Lal Negi is here an expert in portraying a Garhwali female beauty.          

क्य गोरी उज्यळि अर छड छडि बांद ताहि. गल्वडि लाल जन बुरांस कु फूल हो फुल्युं. उबारी वा कै ठंडा मुलुक कि कलबली डाळि छार थै देखिक रौंस ल्हगदि थै. मन बोल्दु अपणा डेरा ल्हिजाण उपाडिक तैं.

          Roopa married to an ailing man and he dies shortly after their marriage. Roop Mati has to spend her life with her mother in law even after many suppression and bad words from her mother in law.

    Mohan Lal Negi portrays the beauty of Roop Dei brilliantly and the suffering of Roopdei with various phrases and incidents those create pathos in the readers mind. The portraying beauty and suffering bring slowness in the story. Though there is no twist in the story after the death of husband of Rup Dei the readers is engaged in the story because the mastery of Mohan Lal Negi on words and phrases. Mohan lal negi uses various types of suitable proverbs and saying for narrating the tale. Negi is expert creating raptures of love and pathos.

  Dr Anil Dabral rate the story as one of the best stories of Mohan Lal Negi and puts ‘Burans Ki peed’ equal to ‘Junyali rat’.
