‘Gaun
ki ek Suber’ is one of the
stories of Garhwali story collection ‘Banj Ki Peed’ (1987) by famous fiction
writer Mohan Lal Negi.
The story deals with the reasons for
disputes. Farms, animals, land-border sign, children are the reasons for
disputes among the villagers. However, at the time of happiness, sadness,
birth-death, marriages and for other occasions all come together. The villagers
help each other when there is natural calamity or other outside problems.
The story also deals that the cooperative
nature in the village has been diminishing with the time.
The story writer is successful in depicting
various day to day works in villages and small types of disputes among
villagers. The writer creates images of life in village by using Garhwali
phrases effectively. The story is simple but certainly is interesting.
