Mohan Lal Negi initiated
experimental fiction in Garhwali too. ‘Dhaula-Bull’
is an example of such experiments.
Negi humanizes the bulls for
showing the aspects of domestic animals. Dhaula and Bulla are two young calves.
They are very strong. When the master takes them for pulling the plough for the
first time they were very enthusiastic. However, when they come to realization
for heavy work they revolt and did not obey the human master. Master and his
fellows started cruel acts upon the bulls that they do agriculture activity –pulling
plough. Both the calves retaliate against cruel methods on animals. The son of master of bulls understands the
nature of animals that they also require affection and motivation. The son of
master becomes friendly with calves and calves obey him.
Story writer Mohan Lal Negi uses dialogues frequently
or he uses maximum dialogues in this story as compared to his twenty or more
stories published so far. The dialogues from bulls are satirical against human cruelty
and selfishness. Negi used imagination at
its peak in the story specially when describing beauty of ‘Dhaula’ calf.
