Compiled and Edited by: Bhishma Kukreti (Management Training Expert)
There are many beliefs in Garhwal including Ravain about consumptions of eatables. In Ravain, it is said that taking milk at the start of journey brings unlucky omen. The folk story is as follows-
Chandan Singh was a strong built man. Chandan Singh never fell ill. He was supposed to go to another village. At the start of his journey for that village he consumed milk. When Chandan reached to his destination he was suffering from fever. Chandan had to wait there for many days. His relative consulted the Bakya (Future Teller). Future teller told that since, Chandan Singh took milk at the start of journey he got unlucky omen. Bakya suggested goat sacrifice before the deity. Chandan Singh sacrificed goat in deity temple. Chandan Singh got healthy.
