                  When Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru the prime minister of Indian used to visit Kashmir for holidaying, Kashmir used to get prominent news and ultimately the visit of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru enhanced the tourist image of Kashmir.
                  When Rajeev Gandhi chose dense forest of Madhya Pradesh as spot for holidaying, the news became attractive factor of Madhya Pradesh tourism industry.
                   The ex-prime minister Atal Vihari Vajpai went Himachal Pradesh for holidaying Himachal Pradesh Tourism got extra mileage.
                The visit of prominent or famous personality to a place is always image enhancer factor for destination branding.
                                            Hunting by Pandu in Bhabhar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand
      At the time of Pandu and Dhristrashtra , Garhwal was having a very attractive image for hunting and Tapsya too.
              Pandu the king of Hastinapur used to visit Bhabhar Garhwal, Uttarakhand. There is a place called ‘Panduvalasot’ in Bhabhar , Garhwal, Uttarakhand that reminds us that King Pandu used to visit dense  Shal /Sal forest  in plains of Garhwal.  Mahabharata describes about Garhwal plains as hunting ground for king Pandu as:
सचरन दक्षिणं पार्श्व रम्यं हिमवतो गिरे:
उवास गिरिपृष्ठेषु माहाशाल्वनेषु
(Mahabharata आदिपर्व ; ११३/ Adiparv :113/8 )

                                            Tapsya by Pandu in Garhwal, Uttarakhand
      When Pandu had to repent and had to do Tapasya (penance) , Pandu visited Chaitrarath, Kalkoot (Kalsi), Gandhmadhan, Badrikashram, Kedar shrines and did penance in Pandukeshwar and Agystmuni (Mahabharata, Adiparv, आदिपर्व, 118/2-47, 118/48-50, 124/3-4,125/29.
                               Birth Place of Pandvas
  The sons of Pandu were called Pandvas and they were five brothers Yudhisthar, Bhim, Arjun, Nakul and Sahdev. Adiparv of Mahabharata states that Agystmuni was the birth place of Pandavas (Mahabharata, Adiparv, आदिपर्व, 122/123).
                       The above information direct us that Garhwal, Uttarakhand was a famous a famous and useful place at the time of Mahabharata era.
          The visit of a famous personality becomes the platform for public awareness for the place and a factor of enhancing the place image for place branding.
                            The birth place of famous personalities is also appositive factor for place branding.
         In a write up ‘Destination Branding for Small Cities’, a small city brand expert Bill Baker suggests for taking advantage of famous personality visit to the place in place branding.
