                    Vrishi Ji or Vrikhi Ji Kukreti had been a legend in his life time in Jaspur an original village of all Kukretis.

            Vrishi Ji always resisted paying unreasonable tax levied by the Garhwal King. Once, he seized the items collected as tax by Kingdom soldiers and tax collectors in Jaspur (now, Chhana or Cheena). The soldiers reached to Shrinagar court and complained to the King about Vrishi Ji of Jaspur –Gweel. The King sent more soldiers to catch Vrishi Ji. Vrishi Ji agreed to soldiers to present himself before the King in Shrinagar. Vrishi Ji went to Shrinagar with the state soldiers.

              Vrishi Ji went to see the King in court. King had heard stories about bravery and strength of Vrishi Ji. The King was impressed by watching the strong body of Vrishi Ji. The King put condition before Vrishi Ji to show his strength and bravery. Vrishi Ji agreed to show his strength.  

          Vrishi Ji was asked to carry a huge metal wall of the fort gate that was lying nearby. King was surprised to watch the strength of Vrishi Ji. The King put another condition on Vrishi Ji. The King asked Vrishi Ji to carry a grain Store box (Kuthar) weighing around three quintals. Vrishi Ji carried that grain Storing box from one godown to another state godown.

                      The King was pleased to watch the strength of brave Vrishi Ji. Vrishi Ji explained to the King that Dhangu region was not fertile region and government taxes are similar to fertile regions or irrigated regions. The Garhwal King   reduced the taxes and retained the Thokdari of Dhangu to Vrishi Ji .
