              Gadhu Sumyal Gatha is story of great brave man of Uttarakhand. Along with his story of his bravery there is a parallel story about his love with Saru Kumai.

          कुमाऊं, गढ़वाल ,हरिद्वार  की लोक गाथाएँ/जागर  -50

                          सरू -कुमैण -  एक प्रणय जागर गाथा

 अब गंगोलीघाट रौंद बाबा सरू-कुमैण अब ज्वा सरू -कुमैण हात नि लियेंदी भुयें नि धरेंदी रमकदी बाहें छमकदी चूड़ी जिरैलो पिंडो नौन्याळो  गाथो जैको च खंखरियाळो  माथो  बड़ी रूपवान छ -वा सरू कुमैण बारा बर्स  की सरू  होली भरपूर ज्वान बंसुरी की धुन ले सरू मोहित ह्वे गय धन तेरा भाग बाबा ! कै देस का ह्वेल्यो
' को छ बजया ?' बोद मूर्छा हवे गय
xxx     xxx जंगळ जटिया गढ़ु मरमिट खसिया अब वा सरू कुमैण देखिक गढू का घाबड़ी लगौन्द अब सै ह्वै जा बैख मेरी बंसी बजैया अब बारा बीसी भैंसी जैकी चौंकण लगीन

  Saru Kumain lives in palace of Gangolihat. Saru Kumain was beautiful and soft as butter that can’t be put on the land and does not come in hand. She puts on bangles. At twelve year, she was young.

       One day, when she was in Gangolihat. She heard melodious flute play music.  Flute music attracted her. Saru Kumain became unconscious by flute music. Saru came in conscious after one month.

  Once, the buffalos of Sumyal delivered buffalos. There was joy everywhere in Khimsarihat.

  Gadhu Sumyal started playing flute from next hill side of Gangolihat. Saru felt attraction and decided she would marry with flute player.

  Saru started her journey to meet the flute player. Saru crossed Ramganga River. Saru reached to that hill where Gadhu Sumyal was playing flute. After some time, Gadhu Sumyal slept.

  Saru called Gadhu Sumyal that she loves him and her flute playing.

  Gadhu Sumyal married Saru Kumain and lived happily in Arunivan.
