Mahesha Nand : A Garhwali Poet fighting for Rights for ‘Deprived Class’

        Mahesha Nand is more famous in Garhwali literature for his astounding short stories than poetry creation.

     Mahesha Nand was born in 1967 in Kewars, Padalsyun of Puri Garhwal. Mahesha Nand is in teaching profession and is social activist for eradication cast difference system.

  Mahesha Nand created lesser numbers of poems than Garhwali short stories.

   Majorly, Mahesha Nand created two types of subjects in Garhwali poetries. The inspiration or spiritual poems and poems related to social reforms. His social reforms related poems are sharp criticism of upper class’s oppressive methods for keeping caste system alive.

   The specific characteristic of literature created by Mahesha Nand is using Garhwali words those are disappearing from Garhwal due to abundant Hindi uses.  The poems by Mahesha Nand offer a solid support to deprived class for struggling against social oppression.

     

      जळका मुंडी   (गढ़वाली कविता )

रचना --    महेशा नन्द

जळका मुंडी नि कार चुचा 

 जळका मुंडी नि कार। 

मुखड़ी गोरी , जिकुड़ी काळी ,

मन मैलू तेरा मैला विचार 

कोली बैठीईं रै , छुरा चुभैगे ,

बींगी तेरी सार -तार।  

छाती मा  क्या बांधी लि जैली 

मैंगा तेरा घौर गुठ्यार 

इखि छुटला सड़िया कुठार 

चोरी करी , चपरी करी 

करदो अंध्यरी मार 

बेटी ब्वारी नि देखी माँ  बैण 

बढ़ौ न पाप कु भार। 

आज खै भोळै आस नि बाँधी 

करि ये पर विचार 

पाप कु भोगी नि बणी अभागी 

दिखली बिधाता की मार।  

 मरेली मति गौळली गती 

सैड़ी कि ह्वेली तार तार 

आलू कुबार ह्वेली कुगता 

राली न तेरी सतौंण सरकार 

जळका मुंडी नि कार चुचा 

 जळका मुंडी नि कार।
