Khuder Dandyali is poetry collection by Balbir Singh Rana ‘Adig’ and Mahendra Singh Rana ‘Azad’. Both belong to Chamoli Garhwal with different professions.
There are 31 poems by Balbir Singh Rana ‘Adig’ and 37 Poems by Mahendra Rana ‘Azad’ in present poetry collection.
The subjects of the present volumes are basically the poems are related to new life styles in rural Garhwal after mass migration from Garhwal. Both poets see the life from that particular angle is from the eyes of migrated Garhwalis. All the poems are centered on migration. Even the poem as ‘pitar karaj’ is also influenced by pain of migration.
There are other subject poems too as Nayi Soch (Mahendra rana), Garhratna Narendra Singh Negi (Balbir Rana). There are Karmkand, surprising poems too but most of the  poems illustrate the pros and cons of migration from Garhwal.
In his forwarding note, Dr. Yogembar Singh Bartwal rightly said that in this volume, there is evolution from individual pain of separation to social pain of separation.  The poets are in search of new society due to migration but both the poets feel frustration that they are unable for finding new society.
There is significance of Khuder Dandyali titles of poetry collection as today, for Garhwalis individual pain does not matter but empty villages matter more than anything.
The biggest positive poem of poetries is that poets illustrate difficulties, hurdles but don’t leave hope for happy future of rural Garhwal.
There are different types of poems from style point of view. There are free style poems, lyrics and Ghazls in Mahendra’s poetry part too in the present volume. A couple of poems by both the poets are satirical too. The poems are both realistic and fantasy oriented.
Main characteristics of both poets is simple way of poetry creation and are able for creating desired images by suitable figure of speeches, symbols and phrases. The poems create the mood as desired by poets. The tone is from Chamoli Garhwal but reader as I belonging to south Garhwal can easily understand the dialects.
Readers will enjoy the poems by Balbir Singh Rana and Mahendra Singh Rana.
