(Critical review of poetry Collection ‘Tabari ar Abari)

‘Tabari ar Abari’ is third Garhwali poetry collection by famous Garhwali satirist Narendra Kathait.
Narendra Kathiat is famous for his satirical style in prose and poetry as well too.
There are 48 free verses in present poetry collection ‘Abari ar Tabari’. The subjects of collection vary from language, god, and sky and to comparison of Uttarakhand with old hill region of Uttar Pradesh.
The importance in Garhwali poetry world for the present poetry collection is symbolic and imageries in teach poem.
The purpose of any satire is to attack on wrong happenings in politics, in administration and society. There are various weapons for satirist for attacking the wrongs. Narendra Kathait selects Symbolism for attacking the erroneous happenings surrounding him.
Narendra Kathait used all types of symbols for creating different types of imageries those are helpful in attacking the wrongs.
Visual Imageries
Narendra uses various symbols for creating sight or visul imageries . Some symbols are for simple illustration and some are for creating different images that normal
Following lines are for creating common images –
बोझ मुंड मा
कयि गुणा
धुप्प अँध्यारु
However, फिर बिपदौं का
पाड़ देखि does not create physical images but mental pain images .

Gustatory Imagery
In his ‘Cha’ poem, Narendra creates gustatory images effectively as-
अर तैं चाs मा
छ बि क्या
चरकट्ट मिट्ठू /पत्युं क्वात।
एक तरफ /सैतर्यू दूध
उमाळयूं पाणी
घळतण्या स्वाद।
Olfactory Imagery
Narendra Kathait used symbols for creating olfactory images and mainly for satirizing a subject or object as in a poem ‘Pyaj’-
जथगा दौं त्वे मुख लगै
तिन मुख पिरपिरु करि

माटा तौळ ही
रै जै सड़नी
Kinesthetic Imagery
Kathait is expert of using suitable symbols for creating images that becomes satire. Narendra uses various symbols for creating kinesthetic imageries as in Pauri poem –
माटा तौळ ही
रै जै सड़नी
पैली धमकान्दा छा लोग
ब्यटा ! जैली त जैली कख
ऐली त सै कबि ना कबि
हमारि पौड़ी
Or , the symbols in Padai Kismat poem -
पाड़ै किस्मत मा
सदानि
टुटणु हि रै
Auditory Imagery
Narendra Kathait created less auditory imagery but there are a few –
पाड़ै किस्मत मा
सदानि
टुटणु हि रै
Or-
जथगा बजौण छौ वै
बजै च
Other Imageries
Narendra Kathait created in this volume other emotional and organic imageries very effectively.
The personification or exemplifying old mythological characters create various types of images and those images are the bases of satire.
