              Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) is silent but devoted contributor for Garhwali poetry development.

            Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) was born in 1936 in village Sanguda, Aswalsyun of Pauri Garhwal.

      After retiring from agriculture department of UP government, Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) settled in rural Garhwal near Pauri and horticulture profession in the village.

    Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) published 6 poetry collections and as per information from famous Garhwali satirist Tribhuwan Uniyal in each collection, the half poems are in Garhwali and half in Hindi.

   Garhwali poems by Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) deals with the subjects of struggles by rural people for their livelihood, love, attachment  and conflicts among villagers, rural  social behaviors, Garhwal nature, agriculture and politics etc.

 Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) narrates his poems in simple phrases and with common phrases of Garhwal. Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) uses figures of speeches those accelerate the poetry rhythm and offer energy to the readers.

    Garhwali literature creative Madan Duklan, Girish Sundriyl and poetry critic Dr. manju Dhoundiyal state that most of poems by Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal) are symbolic and definitely there are surprises for readers in between lines and stanzas and it is specialty of Vidya Datt Sharma (Uniyal).

क्वी   बात नी 

घाम मेरि देळिम बि

 ऐ   त गे 

आंख्यूं मा जू निंद  नि ऐ त 

क्वी   बात नी 

रात अपणि वक्त  पर 

खुलि त गे 

कौरि नी जु जग्वाळ तिल 

 क्वी   बात नी 

बाटु मेरि खैरि को 

कटि त गे 

सुपिनौं म तक नि ऐ जू तू 

क्वी   बात नी 

उम्र मेरि जन कनि 

कटि त गे 

   

ऐहसान तिल क्वी कायु नी 

क्वी   बात नी 

वक्त की रफ्तार चलदी 

चलद गे
