                                    Ganga Ji Forest Division
Government declared Garhwal forests as reserved forest under article 24 of Indian Forest Code of 1878. Government prepared a list of villages come under forests.
In 1879, officials prepared maps showing forest land under Ganv Hakuk or village right but perhaps did not declared the boundaries.
Including Karhitiya forest, there were six blocks under Ganga division –between Ramganga and Ganga Rivers. In 1879, officials included Saneh, Laldhang and Khara forests in Ganga Ji division. In 1880, government shifted Chandi block from Bijnor to Ganga Ji block. North border of Ganga Ji block was Talla Salan and Gangasalan and south border was Kandi Road.
The area for Ganga Ji Division was 350 square miles or 224104 square acres. There were dense or scanty forests of Sal trees. The hills approaching towards north were containing Sal but south side forests were having Sal, Haldu, Dhaur, Shisham Jamun, Khair  and other trees. Bamboo trees were also there. However, people cut suitable trees. Deputy Conservator Harley in 1887, reported that people destroyed forests which were nearby markets. Harley stated that the forest as Kansur and Mandali block forest were safe because being far from markets.
