A souvenir is an article that a tourist buys while travelling to memorize his/her travelling a particular place. In most of the cases, the tourist place has its unique souvenir to offer to the tourist.

In the satire ‘Garhwal ki Samlaun’, the satirist Bhishma Kukreti finds that the shop keepers of Rishikesh don’t have anything to show as the souvenir from Garhwal. The sweet is sold as Bengali sweet; the Latthi is sold as MP’s latthi.  Kukreti feels sorry either Garhwalis don’t make any unique souvenir or shop keepers don’t want to show these gift articles made from Garhwal. Kukreti stresses that the local made souvenir is an important aspects of tourism development as brand ambassador for that tourist place.

The narration style is in first person and the author tells his memory of visiting Rishikesh as a tourist. In fact, this article is based on the author’s own real experience of Rishikesh tour. The satirist attacks on his own community those are not interested in acquiring job for making articles for millions of tourists.
