The short Garhwali story ‘Bwada ki Vasiyat discusses the problem of old aged people of rural Garhwal The Garhwali short story indirectly directs the readers for thinking how to protect the old age people in rural Garhwal when their children are migrated and they are alone in rural Garhwal. The old age people of rural Garhwal whose children are away from them face many physical and mental problems and there is no government security for old age people of rural Garhwal.

The question of protecting old aged people’s interest in rural Garhwal is very uprising question and every Garhwali village is facing such question.

Shibbu Bwada has four sons working in different Indian cities. Shibbu Bwada marries his all children in Garhwal but everybody takes his wife or family with them leaving old parents in village. Shibbu Bwada loses his wife and becomes aloof. No son is taking any interest for his aloofness and physical or mental problems.  With the help of his friend Shibbu Bwada plays gimmick.

The story is based on an old folk story. Sudama Prasad wrote a story on the same line. However, Parma Nand Balodi weaves the story by modern problems and situation. The story narration style is conventional way and is away from contemporary story telling style. There are no dialogues and story is told by third person style. Dialects are from Salan region (Dugadda).
