Kumaon Treaty between British and Nepalese Resident Bamshah

               At the end of March 1815, when British army led by Lieutenant Colonel Gardner was waiting for Regular Army arrival at Katarmal Camp, Edward Gardner requested Bamshah that if Nepalese army was ready to end war without fight and was ready for handing over Almora to British, British army would permit Nepalese army for crossing Kali River for heading to Nepal. However, Bamshah was not ready for the treaty at that moment. Then, on 26th April 1815, Bamshah was ready for the treaty on the same conditions. Edward Gardner was not interested for posing hard conditions. Therefore Edward Gardner sent Lieutenant Colonel Gardner for discussing Treaty Conditions with Bamshah.
  Bamshah put condition that let that Nepalese army be permitted to march to Himachal that was sent from Kathmandu for helping Amar Singh Thapa. Nicholas refused for agreeing the condition. On 27th April 1815, Bamshah agreed for releasing Hearsay. On that same day, Bamshah signed on the Kumaon Treaty with his three army deputies. The treaty was as –
On Thursay, 4 Baishakh, Sanvat 1872, the Treaty letter was signed between Chautra Bamshah, Kaji Chamu Shah , Caiptain ANgad Sardar and Jasmadan Thapa with lieutenant Colonel Gardner who was representing Nicholas and Sir Edward Gardner the representative of Governor General, The agreement is as-
1-The Gurkha soldiers and commanders would vacate Almora Forts and all Garhis (Fort) of Kumaon region.

2- The soldiers of this fort and other forts would be allowed for taking their properties as- weapons, guns, gun powders etc and personal properties for crossing Kali River.
3- Gurkha Soldiers could cross any suitable and convenient ways for crossing Kali River. British Army would arrange for food for Gurkha soldiers and loading the goods of Gurkha soldiers for reaching the decided destinations.
4- Today, Gurkha army would hand over Lalmandi Fort to British Army.
  On that day, British army entered into Lalmandi Fort with loud Gun Firings. Bamshah released Hearsay.  Bmashah ordered Gurkha army men for vacating all Garhis (Forts or fortes) of Kumaon. On 25th April 1815,
