Chandu is a
religious and cooperative person in the village. Everybody respects his strong
character. However, in
moment, he made body relationship with his nephew’s wife Bela. Her husband is madman and is perhaps weak male. Bela becomes pregnant and she states that she is more
responsible for making bodily relationship than Chandu . Now the village
council meeting is scheduled for the judgment. Chandu
has two well grown sons and a married daughter. Before village council meet, Chandu escapes from village and choose for exile himself.
After thirteen years his friend Bachu finds him in
Kanpur and wants to take him to village. Chandu does
not return as he wants self punishment for exile.
The story is interesting and Dr.Asha took examples from Ramayana for explaining modern
story. The story writer is successful for depicting conflicts and self
consciousness. There are
conflicts of consciousness of younger generation about knowing their father’s
sin. Story dialogues are common Garhwali phrase. The initial opening compels
readers to finish the story. There is good discussion on sin and virtues
