Symbols and Imagery in Birani Chhweyunma (A Garhwali Poetry Collection) -

    Birani Chhweyunma is a Garhwali poetry collection by Suresh Snehi that having many types of poems as Va Suber (hard Work by daughter in law in hill villages), Bhinchal (earth quake); Mai ta Hisab gandu rau is about life cycle of a woman; Chitthi (effects of Migration within family and village); Maulyar is about spring but is satirical and humorous poem; ‘Raibar is philosophical poem; the poem Papi paran’ is philosophical poem and has many emotions within a poem.  Birani Chhweeyunma is inspirational poem
    Meru Uttarakhand is a patriotic or inspirational poem with lot of spiritual images by common symbols as
वैदिक भूमि या देवतौं कु घौर  (Spiritual imagery)
दूर दूर बटीलोग दर्शनुकु औंदिन जख    (Kinesthetic imagery)
   Visual Imageries
 Snehi has uses effectively the symbols for creating visual imageries specially hills of Garhwal as
रुमझुम -रूमझुम बरखी बरखा , बढ़गे गाड गदेरौं मा पाणी 
कैकी डोखरी , कैकी पुंगड़ी बगगे , पाणी मा आस पुराणी 
हाय रे बरखा नी औण पै तू फेर। 

चौतरफी हिमालय बरफ लेकि इन पड्यूचा (Visual imagery)
  The poet also shows concern over cultural changes as theft and looting in peaceful, crimeless hills
सैरु बजारु  मा चोर उच्चक्का कनक्वैकि रैली वख
  In Bhyunchal poem, Suresh Snehi creates images of fear by earth quake and readers feel  earth quake as it is reality.
  In Girasti  poem, Suresh creates the pain or pathos raptures करूण  रस ) after marriage that the readers feel indifference and following lines by Snehi are of emotional imageries and philosophical imagery too-
 ब्यौ का बाद देखि मन वेकि
लबड्यान्द धौण , अर टोटगी मौण
खुरसी कपाळी  अर सिल्लि गिच्ची
किलैकि अब वेकु ब्यौ ह्वे गे छौ
   Phrases as लबड्यान्द धौणटोटगी मौण खुरसी कपाळी  अर सिल्लि गिच्ची are typical common phrases and show that something unwanted is happened there. Suresh uses common phrases for creating pathos image effectively.
 Same way, in Girasti poem, Suresh is successful in creating agile imagery and youth imagery very neatly as –
चंट छौ , चालाक छौ
बच्यांदु बि बिंडी छौ
हंसांदु छौ
रुवांदु छौ
कुजाणी क्या क्या करदू छौ
     Auditory Imagery
    There are many symbols or phrases in Garhwali that one symbol satisfies two purposes as in following line of Va Suber , Suresh uses a phrase सासुकु भभड़ाट for creating auditory imagery and for pathos rapture too.) 
सासुकु भभड़ाट चुपचाप  सुणदि रै (Auditory Imagery and pathos rapture together )
     Gustatory Imagery
 Food is important aspect of human beings and Suresh knows the importance and purposely he used many times the ethnic food for creating memorable imagery –
   कंडाळि कि  भुज्जि अर गथ्वणि कु साग सब्युं तै खलैगे
खटै मिठै देखिक रंगसळे जांद in the poem ‘Papi paran’is also good example of gustatory imagery creation.
 Thungar poem is specially created for creating gustatory imagery as the poet uses many food articles that create various food taste images in the reader’s mind

      Olfactory Imagery
  Suresh Snehi uses words as भम्माणभितरि सब्युंकि सौड़ी गेन  (from Chitthi poem) for creating olfactory imagery.
  As far as emotions in the poetry collection is concern, there are various types of emotions as envy खटै मिठै देखिक रंगसळे जांद  and humor and satire as in Sarad, Kya Jamanu aige poems. Dhai poem has emotion of pain of separation.   
  Editors as Madan Duklan, Girish Sundriyal and poetry critics Dr. Manju Dhoundiyal praised the uses of symbols by Suresh Snehi in creating desired imageries. Dr. Manju Dhoundiyal stated that Suresh uses common symbols effectively and he is successful in getting right results too.
