                 Gurkha/Nepalese army did not resist against attack on Doon and Nahan by British army. Same way, Gurkha/Nepalese army did not put any resistance against British attack in Kumaon too. British Army was on marching in Kumaon from 9^th February to 21^st February 1815. There was no resistance from Gurkha soldiers.

  On 21^st February, there was news that Gurkha /Nepalese Commander Angad Sardar reached at ‘Bhujan’ with 800 Nepalese soldiers.  Bhujan was situated in Kosi valley 15 miles away from Sethi towards Almora.  Those Nepalese soldiers ran away from Kota and Kath ki Nav also reached to Bhujan. Lieutenant Colonel Gardner was aware that in hill terrain, Gurkha soldiers were superior to Rohila soldiers. Gardner was aware that one loss would be harmful for British army and High Command morale. Gardner was not ready for direct head on. He ordered his army for marching another way and not through Bhujan-Almora road but through Ranikhet and Riuni –Almora road.
