Jabar Singh Kaintura: Garhwali Poet

 Jabar  Singh Kaintura contributed Garhwali literature by creating short stories and poetries. Jabar  Singh Kaintura was born in Ringoli village , Lotsu Patti of Tehri Garhwal adjacent to Shrinagar.

      Jabar  Singh Kaintura was a union activist too.

    Jabar  Singh Kaintura published around 15 Garhwali poems in Hilans,  Alaknanda and other periodicals.  Madan Duklan included his poem in Angwal a 300 Garhwali poetry collection.

     His poem ‘Hamara Auji’ is a portrait of a customary Dhol player Gyanu.

   The poem ‘ Chitthi Man Tain’ by Jabar  is praising his mother land Garhwal and its natural beauty.

  ‘Azadi’ poem by Kaintura is a satirical poem and criticizes the wrong doings by politicians, administration.

   Gwain (Gwairan) poem is about illustration of daily life of a she shepherd.

    Jabar  Singh satirizes the organizers of International Youth Year in ‘ Jwanun Sal’. Kaintura observes that in his society , the child enters into old  life and now that  old generation is celebrating youth year as old leader Babu Jagjivan ram was made Youth congress President by Indira Gandhi.

  The ‘ Meri Charyun’ or Like Me is another satire criticizing the corrupt mentality in the society. Jabar  Singh states that everybody is interested in getting money by corrupt or easy means. Those avail corrupt methods and earn extra money don’t criticize corruption but those are unable to get money by corrupt methods start criticizing corruption.

  Basgyal is illustration of rain in Garhwal hills.

   Jabar  Singh uses dialects from Lotsu Tehri  region and uses common Garhwali phrases.

     Hilans editor late Arjun Singh Gusain, Alaknanda editor Swarup Dhoundiyal and famous poet Puran Pant Pathik   appreciated poetries by Jabar  Singh Kaintura.       

बसग्याळ  ( वर्षा विवरण  की रसयुक्त कविता )

रचना --   जबर सिंह कैंतुरा  

-

बादळू गगड़ाट,

गदरौं  स्वींसाट ,

स्वीली डर ,

झिड़ बिड़ो , भितर भैर ,

लुकीन स्याळ -यूँ मैनों बसग्याळ 

झंगोरू , क्वादु , मार्छु ग्वडणू  ,

नै ब्योली मन खुद्यणू।

 संग्त धांणी -धांणी / गदरौं  ल्यंगड़ा,

कंडळि   का झ्यंकड़ा /हर्यूं हर्यूं घास बसग्याळ  मॉस। 

सार्यों -सार्यों रोपण होणी ,

सुज्जि -भुज्जि अर गोन्द्कि नौणी। 

कौल्या कंडळि /भुट्याणु -अंगाळि,

घिंघरू -किनगोड़ रिक्कै -डौर ,

बिजलि चलकणी , ज्वंक्कि बिल्कणी 

सौणै कुरेड़ि भ्वीं फुंड लिटणी 

बाळणि भैंसि छक्की दूध देणी। 

पोथळौञ को च्वींचाट , म्यंडगौं का टर्र टर्राट 

किदलौं को गिजबिजाट 

झ्यास्सु को लमड्यात /  गेंडवाळवी चलमलाण 

नुन्यारों कि  न्वीन्याण   

 ग्वडदरि ब्यखनां अब्यsर मुंणखा बिटोळणी ,

चस्का  जुनखौं मा वूंतैं 'वू ' कि खुद लगणी।
