The Drought in Delhi and Mumbia of Kumauni readers for Paharu (A Kumani magazine )
In my earlier, write up I explained for my contact with Kumauni literature. The first step was to visit web and finding the magazine and new letters if any. In this search , I came in contact with dr Manoj Upreti of Faridabad our group member who provided me phone number of Dr Hayyat Singh, Almoda the editor of Paharu a monthly Kumauni language literature.
It fulfills the standard : No doubt, to publishing a Kumaouni or Garhwali magazine on regualar basis is a Herculean job because finance for publishing the periodicals/literature have been the problem for Kumauni and Garhwali literate creatives. This is the reason that Gumani pant who wrote Khadi boli literature before Bhartendu Harish Chandra but the perception is that Bhartendu Harish Chandra was first creative of Khadi Boli because Gumani Pant was deprived of publishing his Hindi poems due to finance and lack of publishing facilities in Kumauni commissionery in British time .
However, the author may say that Paharu kept its form, colorful outer pages as per the standard requirement . Format, style, printing, proof reading etc are of good standard and I congratulate Dr Hayyat Singh Rawat and Kumauni Bhasha and Sanskriti Samiti, Kasaardevi, Almoda for publishing such a beautiful, well edited magazine in Kumauni
A Complete magazine : This is complete magazine and are having the following columns
2-Letters to Editors
3-Dictionary or Kumauni shabda bhandar
6-Science of Linguistic knowledge
11-News and views
12- Humorous and satirist Prose and poems
14-great Personality of Kuamun
18- Folk Story
19- Many information as new books in Kumauni language, brief data and addresses of Kumauni language creative , new magazines of the region
I may say that this magazine is a complete Kumaoni magazine
The no-healable pain
After reading the list of Ajeewan Sadasy I felt the no-healable pain that there are no Kumauni permanent readers or life time members of this magazine in Mumbai and Delhi except Dr Rajesh war Uniyal from Mumbai who is a Garhwali literate creative and Shri C K Kandpal from Delhi.
This is a tragedy for a Garhwali or Kumauni language periodicals. When Mumbaikars or Delhitians dot get chance of reading language periodicals the Uttarakhandi looses the link with his/her Doodhboli . The readers don’t get chance of reading language periodicals because periodical publishers cant afford marketing of regional language periodicals in a situation of where the readers are scattered unevenly. This is Egg and Chicken situation. One thing is sure that util and unless, the Mumbai Kars and delhitians support a Kumauni or Garhwali magazine/periodicals it will face the problem of finance . Secondly, if any Kumauni/Garhwali magazine or periodicals is not evenly distributed in Mumabi and Delhi the periodical does not solve its expanded purpose of protecting and nourishing the language and readers respectively.
I hope next gene will find the solution for popularity of Kumauni and Garhwali language periodicals in Delhi and Mumbai
The readers may call the magazine from
