          From 1869 till 1879, 18 villages came in existence in Bhabhar Garhwal (Joshi) –
Kotdwara, Ratanpur, Jitpur, Lalpani, Haldukhata, Saneh, Jhirna, Panali, Kaudiya, Kunaun, Shivrajpur, Padmapur, Gorakhpur, Kotalgaun, Chaukighat and Kalalghati.
 There was increase in land rent   too in those ten years as follows (Joshi)-

      With the increase in temporary and durable canals, the number of colonies and villages also increase. Few villages were established by old village inhabitants and many new villages emerged due to settling by new migrants.

                         Increase in numbers of Canals

  By increase in human colonies, British government started digging new canals in Bhabhar Garhwal.
 In 1887-88, Government dig  a durable canal from right bank of Khoh river. In 1884-86, canals were dug from Malani river bank on both the sides. One third canal water was also made available for Bijnor region from those canals. Bijnor Jamindar also contributed in making those canals.
 The work started making the following canals durable (lime and cemented) –
1888-89-Sukharo canal
1902-03- From Ginvai Gadan
1907-08 –Siggadi canal
  By 1910, barring 70 acres, most of the Bhabhar land was irrigated land (Walton).
