Bau Sarela is purely love rapture oriented folk dance s-song style of Garhwal. Bau (wife of elder brother ) is symbol of love in these folk songs. These love songs are full of romance, humour, smile, pleasure, description of beuty of female and manhood of male. There were instances when the songs were found erotic too.
Now days, mostly, the Bau Sarela songs are sung and dance is performed in fair/ Mela. Bau Sarela is made of two words, Bau means – wife of elder brother and Sarela means mind. It means there is attraction for Bau.
There are two types of drama performances in the dance song sequence of Bau Sarela – face expression by actors /dancers and expression by words
